# Fast Drafting Mode

Do you spend too much time agonising what you already wrote? The fast drafting mode helps you focus on moving forward.

When enabled, you aren't allowed to delete any words from your draft. You can still remove whitespace and punctuation.

Just like writing long-hand or using a typewriter, you can cross out words using the \~\~strike-through\~\~ markers, but you can't remove anything from the draft.

### How To Enable the Fast Drafting Mode

You can toggle the fast drafting mode during a writing session. Click the menu button in the top-right corner of the screen:

Select *Fast Drafting* entry from the main menu:

A yellow lightning bolt icon will appear on the left size of the *Focus* indicator at the bottom of the editor:

Repeat the same process to disable the feature.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://support.writinganalytics.co/guides/fast-drafting-mode.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
